ABOUT

My passon and my love for my profession make it hard not to notice my food!  My heart skips a beat at the smell of good food cooking.....I had to be a part of it on a grander scale...I had to feed people, to nourish them with the love from an amazing meal.  Because of the aromas coming from my grandmother and mother's kitchen, I knew no other direction than to feed the senses of people willing to take a chance on my vision of food!  I began cooking in my grandmother's kitchen at the age of 4.  I watched her prepare fresh bread, soups and jams daily.  I loved the aromas of Oma's kitchen and felt a warmth with each dish she put on the table.  I knew then, I had to cook!

I am passionate about food -- how it looks and tastes, the textures, and the temperatures and plating designs. I get to use seasonal foods at their peak, being mindful to respect it's natural simplicity by not over-manipulating it.

I love creating new flavor profiles and cooking for people. I am able to nourish someone and give him/her an experience based on something I create. That is a lot of pressure but so worth it!

I have over 20 years in the restaurant industry, including teaching students at an accredited culinary university,  techniques and skills to cook; to learn about every facet they need to succeed in this industry.  I am passionate about my work, and have years of knowledge and success to impart to those that want to be better when they step into the kitchen.  My goal is to make everyone that wants to learn, how to be confident and competent in the kitchen, no matter what their skill level.

Along my culinary journey, I met my best friend, my cooking and traveling companion....my husband, Daniel.  He has been not only an inspiration but an answer to my prayers.  His strength, his passion and his level-headed temperance, has been the "ying to my yang".  Together, we have accomplished some amazing things; including our angels, Olivia and Judah.  Chef Hot Dish is just another blessing that God has given to us; another adventure with which we can in turn, bless others.

We have dedicated our time to feeding the homeless and the hungry in Baltimore, through our church, Rock City Church.  It is our family's belief that "No One Should Be Hungry".  As a result, we have designated a portion of our profits to our foundation, "Allergic To Hungry", which supports feeding the homeless and needy in our community through:  A Can Can Make a Difference, local food banks, Adopt-A-Block, and Compassion Commission.

It is our calling to use our gifts and talents given to us by God to bless others, those less fortunate, and expand the kingdom of God for His purpose!

We hope we can bless you too with our food...our vision.....our mission.
